Poultry and Animal husbandry

There are a number of requirements by which animals should be managed so that the best performance is achieved in a way acceptable to those responsible for the care of the animals and to the community generally. These requirements are the keys to good management and may be used to test the management of a poultry enterprise in relation to the standard of its management. These requirements are also called Principles.

The importance of each Principle changes with the situation and thus the emphasis placed on each may alter from place to place and from time to time. This means that, while the Principles do not change the degree of emphasis and method of application may change. Every facet of the poultry operation should be tested against the relevant principle(s).

Field Crops

If you grow field crops such as grain, corn, cotton, banana etc, you may want to learn how you can successfully adopt sustainable farming methods or organic production strategies for these crops. This series of publications discusses some of the soil and weed management options and tilling and planting methods that can make traditional field crop production more sustainable and economically viable. Consult these resources for specific information on production of commodity crops, as well as introductions to new alternative crops.

Field crops are defined as crops that feed animals, such as corn, small grains, soybeans and hay. The field crop definition could also include cover crops. On small farms, field crops can be a “rotation crop” with high value crops, such as vegetables. For example, vegetable fields can be rotated with hay crops, such as orchardgrass, to give the soil a rest from intensive tillage.

Low Cost Housing

There are some opportunities available to rent a home at less than the market value. Such homes are usually referred to as either intermediate rent homes or affordable rent homes. They are good options for home seekers who are not high priority for a social rent home and cannot afford either to purchase a home or pay a full market rent. The rent is lower than what you would expect to pay for a similar home in a similar area rented from a private landlord. As well as being more affordable, you have the assurance that your home is built, managed and let by FramanAgridev associate or the government. There are a number of low-cost rented developments FramanAgridev can bring to any state and country. Some of these are only available to key workers, such as nurses, doctors, army, police etc, although most are not restricted in this way. Low-cost rented homes are usually let on an assured shorthold tenancy, which means that it is fixed between one and three years, but could be renewed.
